Bark River Blues August 14, 2006 - Evan has a disappointing weekend at “his track” in Bark River, Michigan. Usually a winner and always a fan favorite, Evan had to deal with mechanical problems both days and was not able to finish the Pro-2 race on Saturday or Sunday. Coming into this weekend of racing in 8th place in season points, Evan felt positive about his truck and was looking forward to a win. He started the land rush start on the pole on Saturday and was in second place behind Jerry Whelchel. These two started pulling out in front of the rest of the pack. On lap 2 it was Whelchel, Evan, Carl Renezeder and Scott Taylor. By lap three Evan was trying to make a move on the leader and was on his bumper waiting for the chance when suddenly Evan started to slow and pulled into the hot pits. He thought his ignition was going and was out of the race. Later his crew found the nut that holds the distributor cap on came loose and caused damage to the distributor. On Sunday Evan felt confident in his truck and decided not to practice, he was ready to race! Evan found himself in the middle of the pack on an ugly start. He was in 8th place on lap one when he spun in a corner. He lost a few positions but started working his way through the pack when he landed hard off of the high jump. He then pulled off the track with a broken transmission and ended his hopeful weekend. After this disappointing weekend Evan is looking forward to the Labor Day races at Crandon and getting his Wisconsin shop built before the snow flies. |
