Bark River - New Race & Big Improvments
7-10-06

Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) is growing, expanding to the West Coast, and so are the tracks. This weekend of racing at Bark River, Michigan (pop. 1,631) was added to the CORR schedule this year and the track has gone “big time” to accommodate the two race weekends. Race fans & racers found new grandstands with reserved seating on the top rows, excellent sounding speakers, larger pit and spectator area and a real building for the food service. Thank you Bark River Lions Club for having a great race track!

Now for the racing... Evan looked great in practice but his truck fell short at race time. After he got into it before Saturdays race he found the hand controlled gear shift broken. With no time to repair it before the race, Evan asked the crew to - “Give me something”. So Evan joined the race on lap 3 with only third gear! Evan looked good on the track considering he had only one gear and came in 13th.

On Sunday all the “bugs” were worked out of the truck but a stomach bug found Evan. When the green flag dropped Evan forgot about his stomach and hit the gas to come off the land rush start in first and started pulling away from Steve Barlow, Scott Douglas, Scott Taylor and Carl Renezeder. Second thru fifth place trucks were battling for position and Renezeder had to pull off. On lap 4 Evan got a flat tire and pulled into the hot pits to change it. He was a lap down when he pulled back on the track and finished in 12th place.

Evan and the crew are heading back to California for Rounds 7 & 8 at Chula Vista, California.
